The "Gamers-Assembly"

Videogames, during a long time, have used to be a lonely entertainement where a human was challenging a computer not able enough to adapt and improvise.
With Internet, new games system has risen. Purpose is not to challenge a computer anymore, but one human gamer, or many others, playing on their own computer.
Machine is no longer the opponent, gamers competition has begun.

A lot of gamers started to rally together in a same physical location, each of them on his interconnected computer.
Today around the World, network gamers are more than a million and it keeps growing.
New competitions emerged every day, gathering participors training like elite athletes, when the rewards are increasingly important.

For the past 12 years, in the "Vienne" departement of France, Futorolan association is setting up high quality competitions gathering the best French gamers.
They come to face themselves during a whole week-end, nights and days, in a unique atmosphere, to participate in theses tournaments.
From 100 in year 2000 up to 1000 players in 2007, Gamers-Assembly continues to grow. It was also inaugurated in 2003 by French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre RAFARIN.

The principle of LAN parties (gaming tournaments) is fairly simple.
Each player having registered participation rights acquited, brings and sets up his own computer into the room. Everything necessary for the proper functioning of the event has been prepared by the organisation :

• tables and chairs
• high speed local network
• power grid supplying all computers
• powerfull servers for the game parties hosting
• a 1200 seats amphitheater to see the live most beautiful games on stage
• partners village with a lot of free entertainement and animations
• and of course a bar when you can have a break and buy food&drinks

Days are mainly ponctuated by official tournaments that are managed by organisators.
Nights are for everything else and every games.
"Palais des Congrès du Futuroscope" infrastructure allows us to broadcast live of most important games in a splendid 1200seats amphitheater and also a lot of partners' stands in a huge hall inside the building.

The quality of our events has always been priority one for Futurolan. The association puts all its resources each year to implement and constantly rennovate for the gamers and partners to be satisfied.
